Construction of a new $749 million Sydney Fish Market is set to start in the second half of this year, after the state government listed it among a new batch of 24 projects to have their planning assessments accelerated.
Subject to it gaining final planning approval within the next four weeks, the Fish Market complex at Blackwattle Bay at Pyrmont in the inner city will be opened to the public in 2024.
NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes said the Fish Market project had been anticipated for some time, and it was “already in the system so it had been submitted and it’s been through public exhibition”.
“This is just an opportunity for an incredible facility to be built on the shores of Blackwattle Bay, obviously subject to the approval processes being completed over the next four weeks,” he said.
